Karen's Review Of This Property:
The clomp of hooves as horses pulled carriages down the main street of Burford has long disappeared, but the inns that provided lodging and food to weary travelers remain. If you are in search of a delightful, quaint hostelry, but with modern food and service, you can do no better than to base yourself at The Lamb for the duration of your Cotswold stay. A tall, upholstered settee sits before the fireplace on the flagstone floor of the reception hall. There’s an air of times long past pervading the place, particularly in winter when the air is heavy with the scent of woodsmoke and a flickering fire burns in the grate. Little staircases and corridors zigzag you up and down to the en suite bedrooms, all kitted out in modern country decor. Malt is a particularly spacious king-bedded room with a large bathroom. The restaurant offers a full à la carte menu or, if you prefer to eat less formally, a bar menu is available. It’s lovely to eat out in the garden in the summer, but for atmosphere you cannot beat the homey little bar with its stone-flagged floor and little tables and chairs. Burford’s main street is bordered by numerous hostelries, antique, gift, and teashops. There are mellow Cotswold villages to explore. Blenheim Palace and Oxford are less than an hour’s drive away.
