Karen's Review Of This Property:
Burford House, a charming half-timbered building on the corner of Burford’s main street, is a small hotel of great character owned by Stewart Dunkley and Ian Hawkins. Just off the inviting entry with its old wood floors is the lovely restaurant: on the other side is a most comfortable sitting room with sofas and chairs drawn around an open log fire. The pretty morning room is especially attractive in the early hours. Doors open onto the lovely back courtyard and garden where guests often eat breakfast in the summer. Burford House has eight guestrooms, all named for local villages and all with en suite bathrooms (six of the rooms have separate walk-in showers in addition to a tub). Swinbrook is a spacious, pretty, garden-level room located in the wing off the courtyard, referred to as the “coach house” (although it is actually part of the main building). At the top of the stairs in the main house and overlooking the bustle of the main street is Sherbourne with its four-poster bed and an enormous bathroom complete with dramatic claw-foot tub. We especially enjoyed our stay in Windrush, a spacious king/twin looking over the courtyard. This small hotel is a real winner.
