Karen's Review Of This Property:
If you are looking to unwind completely, book a room at Knockinaam Lodge, a gray-stone Victorian country house set beside the Irish Sea amidst 30 acres of sheltering wooded hills and pretty gardens. The private beach is perfect for contemplative strolls—such as Churchill and Eisenhower might have taken when they stayed here during World War II. Inside, furnishings and decor respect the house’s heritage while white-painted woodwork and pastel-colored walls create a light and cheerful atmosphere. Guests relax in the attractive sitting room or drawing room with their comfortable armchairs, tall windows, and decorative moldings. Delicious, innovative dinners, an important feature of the Knockinaam Lodge experience, are accompanied by wines from a 30-page list. After dinner, guests often repair to the cozy wood-paneled bar with its log fire, mounted stags’ heads, and extensive collection of single-malt whiskies. There are nine individually decorated bedrooms of various sizes, all with en suite bathrooms, TVs, VCRs, and direct-dial phones. The most luxurious room (original master bedroom) has a king bed, a huge bathroom, and partial sea views. One of the three rooms with unobstructed sea views has a canopied queen-sized bed.
