Karen's Review Of This Property:

The location is absolutely perfect—just a ten-minute stroll from Princes Street in the heart of Georgian Edinburgh. Three townhouses have been combined to form this luxury hotel, which has the air of a private club. No expense has been spared to create the look and feel of a sumptuous home. Beautiful fabrics, antiques, gorgeous furniture, and an abundance of flowers set an elegant mood. The drawing room centers on an elaborate crystal chandelier. There is no bar: guests order from the butler. Each bedroom has a different decor and color scheme. A great many of the bathrooms are especially grand, several with claw-foot tubs, others with a bath and separate shower, and the suites have luxurious steam showers. Three suites have their own private terrace and entrance to Great King Street. The Howard has its own fine restaurant, The Atholl, specializing in traditional Scottish fare, and there are many more, from formal to funky, within easy walking distance.

Directions: From the west end of Princes Street (with the castle on your right) turn left into Charlotte Square then turn right into Queen Street. Turn third left into Queen Street Gardens East, which becomes Dundas Street, then take the third right onto Great King Street. The Howard is on the right with a car park to the rear.
