The Edinburgh Residence Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

This conversion of three grand Victorian townhouses into an apartment hotel sits on a quiet square in Edinburgh’s west end, retaining their elegant features of mellow paneling, ornate plasterwork ceilings, original fireplaces and grand staircases. Rooms are spacious, no two are the same, and three have their own private front door. Those at the back have excellent views of Edinburgh. You may stay in a mahogany-paneled bedroom (room 12) or have a vast sitting room (like 18). Bathrooms, all with separate shower and tub, are a feature: some have roll top baths, others Jacuzzi tubs for two, and a couple large enough to hold a party in. Suites come in three sizes: Classic—spacious room with sitting area and dining nook; Grand—larger than Classic; Townhouse Apartment—separate bedroom, sitting room with hidden “Murphy” beds, and two bathrooms. The butler brings breakfast (continental to hot breakfast with haggis, bacon and egg) and offers 24-hour room service (everything up to an elaborate three-course dinner). There’s also a “cupboard” kitchen with microwave, kettle, crockery, cutlery, and cafetiere. For an in-town pied-à-terre, consider a “time ownership” for weeklong stays.
