Summer Isles Hotel
A Karen Brown Recommended Hotel / Inn

Karen's Review Of This Property:
Fifteen miles of winding, single-track road lead you through land and sea lochs in some of Scotland’s wildest scenery to Achiltibuie, a few cottages along the road overlooking a broad expanse of bay and the Summer Isles. These grassy little islands include the five tiny communities on the peninsula of which Achiltibuie is one. Just beyond the post office you find the Summer Isles Hotel. Guests come to enjoy solitude and wild scenery in the daytime and in the evening experience the outstanding cooking of Chris Firth-Bernard. His five course dinner offers no choices (except for dessert which comes on a trolley laden with temptations). Accommodation comes in a range of distinct categories: rooms in the main house (ask for one facing the sea); the turf-roofed log cabins (lots of country charm but no view and priced accordingly); cottage rooms (very attractively decorated in white on white with two rooms offering views of the sea across the fields); the boathouse suite (fireplace in the sitting room and spectacular view from the bedroom atop a spiral staircase); and cottage suites (with view, sitting areas, and amazing bathrooms with high-pressure showers). You can take a local boat round the islands to see seals and birds.
