Karen's Review Of This Property:
With a backdrop of mountain peaks and a lush green lawn sweeping down towards Rosthwaite village, this award-winning establishment has a superb location in Borrowdale, one of the loveliest and quietest Lake District valleys. Brenda and Glen Davies renovated this large Victorian residence, adding attractive bath and shower rooms to all of the bedrooms, and decorating the entire house in a way that is totally in keeping with its period charm and character. All the rooms are comfortable, light, airy, and uncluttered. The bedrooms, named after nearby mountains, vary from spacious to snug, though even the snuggest has a corner to accommodate comfortable chairs and a TV—we particularly admired Dalehead. After a day out walking or sightseeing, relax over a drink in the sitting room before one of Brenda’s award-winning dinners. This is walking country so the house has a drying and ironing room for clothing. Just behind the house, overlooking the garden, is a delightful little self-catering cottage for two people. An excellent day out is had by driving high over the adjacent pass to Buttermere and Crummock Water. Visit Wordsworth House in Cockermouth, drive along Bassenthwaite Lake to Keswick, and after sightseeing, continue along Derwent Water back to Rosthwaite.
