Karen's Review Of This Property:

The signpost to Skelwith Bridge and Hawkshead and the inn has stood at the crossroads more than 400 years. Today, the Drunken Duck offers comfortable accommodation and fine food. A range of beers, produced in their brewery on site, are named after dogs and cats who have graced the property in recent times, Cracker, Tag Lag, Chesters and Catnap. Comfy sofas, antiques, and wall art make the sitting room a great place to escape. Indulge yourself in a traditional cream tea served to residents every afternoon. Whether in the pub (mostly cute and cozy) or across the courtyard, each of the guestrooms offers a unique blend of comfort and contemporary design with bathrooms en suite. A firm favorite is the Garden room with open-beamed ceiling, floor-length windows, views across Langdale Valley, and a private balcony above the gardens and Tarn. It is hard to secure this room so know that most of the various size courtyard rooms offer fabulous views—we particularly loved our room 11. The modern British cuisine served in the romantic restaurant merits several nights stay. Overall, while deliciously modern, little has changed over the years; chalk-written menus, foaming pints of hand-pulled beer, open log fires and twinkling candlelight offer a warm welcome.
