Karen's Review Of This Property:
Rothay Manor is an exceptionally enjoyable establishment in the very heart of the Lake District. It has the feel of a refined, old-fashioned British resort hotel where everything is done with kindness and without fuss. In the afternoon, an array of trim little sandwiches, decorated cakes, and biscuits tempts you to partake of tea. Children’s “teas” are served so that youngsters can be tucked up in bed before parents go down to dinner. A traditional, set three- or five-course dinner is served in the dining room. Afterwards, coffee and chocolates are set out in the hall to be enjoyed in one of the comfortable sitting rooms. Premier bedrooms are those at the front with balconies. We particularly enjoyed room 6. Joined to the hotel by a glass-sided corridor, rooms in the Old Cottage are especially attractive. Downstairs is a smaller room that features a small, private garden patio. Upstairs the airy suite has an extra bedroom for children. Room 15 and the adjacent 14 can be combined as a family suite. A downstairs bedroom is available for those who use a wheelchair or have difficulty with stairs. The weather forecast is posted in the hallway so you can be prepared for the fickle Lake District weather. Picturesque villages and stunning scenery are easily reached by car or explored on foot.
