East Lodge Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

On the edge of the village of Rowsley, standing in its own grounds, distanced from the road by a winding, tree-lined, private driveway, the East Lodge dates back to the late 1700’s. As the name implies, it started out as a hunting lodge on the Haddon estate. Today is has retained many of the old architectural features and combined them with a sleek modernity and creature comforts resulting in an upscale, chic, country house hotel. From the reception area with its black iron and tile fireplace to the four-poster beds, free-standing tubs and flat-screen TV’s in the bathrooms, there is an unmistakable air of attention to detail throughout. The “hands-on” management style of the Hardman family ensures there is always an owner on site. Rooms vary in size: our favorites were larger, at the front of the house and looked over the gardens and pond. Light meals and snacks are served in the conservatory bar, breakfast and dinner in the more formal dining room. It’s a perfect central location for exploring the most interesting villages in the Peak District National Park.
