Fischer’s at Baslow Hall Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Fischer’s at Baslow Hall is a dream place for a relaxed getaway, with splendid cooking, especially friendly service, and the nearby delights of the Peak District National Park. This superb house with its lead-paned windows set in stone frames, dark-oak paneling, and wide-plank wooden floors has the feeling of a Tudor manor, yet it was built only in 1907 as a home for the Reverend Jeremiah Stockdale. It continued as a home until 1989 when Susan and Max Fischer purchased it to house their successful restaurant, Fischer’s, and also provide the most tasteful of accommodation. The house is furnished and decorated with imagination and flair, with a delightful use of soft yet quite vivid colors to create a feeling of warmth. Upstairs Vernon and Haddon are especially lovely bedrooms. If you prefer even more space and contemporary decor opt for rooms 2, 3, 4 or 5 which open up onto a little courtyard garden—perfect for hiding away. Max offers traditional English dishes as well as more elaborate fare on his mouth-watering menus that range from the menu du jour (not available on Fri and Sat), to the Gourmet and Prestige menus featuring evening-long dining extravaganzas. The surrounding countryside offers plenty to keep you busy for a week—Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, lovely villages, and glorious scenery.
