Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Romantic Seehotel Sonne has a superb location—just 10 minutes from Zürich yet in a tranquil setting right by the lake. If you arrive by car, it offers the convenience of easy access and free parking. If you are using public transportation, trains run every 30 minutes directly from the Zürich airport to a station within walking distance of the hotel; plus trains run every 15 minutes to downtown Zürich. Sightseeing boats dock just steps from the hotel and you can hop aboard a ferry to explore the towns around the lake, including of course Zürich. This picturesque hotel dates back to the 15th century with one remaining tower to hint of its early heritage. Today, it provides every modern comfort but still retains its old world hospitably. The owners and the staff go out of their way to be sure their guests receive the finest service and you are welcomed as a cherished friend it in a private home. The individually decorated guestrooms are furnished in a contemporary style enhanced by cheerful, warm color schemes. The prime bedrooms are those with a view of the lake. Original art and sculptures are displayed throughout, including paintings by Andy Warhol. There are two excellent restaurants, plus a sensational ballroom with an exquisite frescoed ceiling that harks back to the age of nobility. You can relax after a day of sightseeing at the hotel’s spa and wellness center.
Romantik Hotel Guide's Description:
Situated directly on Lake Zurich and only 10 minutes from the city itself, the Hotel Sonne has been performing its romantic magic since 1641. The current owners have added the latest in modern comfort, creating a wonderfully atmosphere for guests. The historic ballroom, the cosy lounges, the sun gallery and 70 original paintings and sculptures (by Andy Warhol amongst others) offer an irresistible invitation to visit Küsnacht. And rounding out the offering of this superb hotel is the creative European cuisine.
