Karen's Review Of This Property:

At the heart of one of Switzerland’s finest wine-producing regions, Cully is wrapped by terraced fields of grapes on three sides and fronted by Lake Geneva. It is one of the most picturesque of the charming villages that dot the shores of the lake. Many ferryboats stop at Cully’s small pier across from a grassy park. Facing the park and the lake is the superbly positioned Hotel Major Davel, a pink-stucco building with gray-green shutters and a mansard roof. Many diners come by boat and stop in Cully to enjoy lunch in the hotel’s glass-enclosed terrace restaurant with a view of the lake. Rolf Messmer, the hotelier, is also the chef and the food is excellent. Those looking for a reasonably priced place to spend the night will find that the Hotel Major Davel offers, in addition to the restaurant, good accommodation. Upstairs (there is no elevator), the guestrooms are not deluxe, but certainly adequate. Rooms 5 and 10 are corner rooms with the advantage of having windows on two sides. With just 13 rooms, the owners pride themselves on the personalized service that they are able to offer their guests—and guests show their appreciation by repeated visits. Rolf and Bernadette are a young couple who bring a new enthusiasm and warmth to this wonderful country hotel.
