Karen's Review Of This Property:
Although the address is Saint Moritz, the Meierei Landhotel is across the lake, with a pretty view back over the water to town. The hotel is actually an old farm whose origins date back to the 17th century when it was owned by a bishop. It was here that produce for the bishop’s table was grown, tithes collected from the surrounding peasants, and beds kept ready for visiting dignitaries of the church. When the Degiacomi family bought the property, it had fallen into sad disrepair. They converted one wing into a very popular restaurant—a favorite place for those hiking around the lake to stop for lunch. The original part of the hotel is a white-stucco, two-storied building with brown shutters. The old restaurant wing, wrapped in weathered brown shingles, blends in very well. On sunny days, the most popular spot to dine is on the outdoor terrace, which is protected from the wind by a wall of glass. The main activity of the Meierei Landhotel is its restaurant, but there are also ten bedrooms furnished in a rustic pine decor. As you approach the main entrance, there is a children’s playground to the right and an enticing corral with ponies. If you want to go into Saint Moritz for shopping, it is a pleasant 20-minute walk. Saint Moritz-Bad is also a 20-minute walk by a different path that loops around the lake.
