Karen's Review Of This Property:
As you enter through the Gothic archway into the Chasa Chalavaina, you slip back in time, with every nook and cranny breathing the history of yesteryear. In 1499, when the troops gathered in front of the inn prepared to battle the German Emperor, Maximilian, the Chasa Chalavaina was already at least 200 years old. From the beginning it was designed as an inn, as confirmed by the large stable where the coachmen sheltered their horses after their arduous journeys over the passes. The old stone floor of the entrance hall is worn smooth by the passage of countless guests. The Chasa Chalavaina has been restored with great respect for its past, with thick walls hung with farm instruments, doors with antique iron locks, old beams secured by wooden pegs, carved pine paneling wearing the patina of time, and rustic antiques galore. The inn has maintained the sturdy, simple, clean lines of the past while adding the conveniences of the present day. Delicious, home-cooked meals are served in the simple, pine-paneled dining room. Each of the guestrooms has its own personality: La Palantshotta has pine furniture and a large terrace tucked in under the eaves; La Stuietta, on the first floor, has its own private terrace; La Stuva del Preir has a deck overlooking the square in front of the hotel. The Chasa Chalavaina offers very basic accommodation and simple comfort.
