Karen's Review Of This Property:
Guarda, a cluster of old, intricately painted farmhouses with flowers at every window, nestles on a mountain shelf high above the Engadine Valley—one of the most picturesque hideaways in Switzerland. Happily, there is a gem of a hotel to match the perfection of the village. The Hotel Meisser is beautifully situated overlooking the expanse of green valley below, with a terrace where guests can enjoy refreshments served by waitresses in local costume. The hotel, a typical Engadine farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century. Throughout the hotel there is an old-world ambiance achieved through the use of antique chests, pieces of old copper, oil paintings, and baskets of fresh flowers everywhere. The main house offers simple accommodation, and two front corner rooms (15 and 16) afford memorable views and enjoy their own balconies. Across the street the converted farmhouse, Chasa Pepina, houses La Charpenna, a spectacular penthouse suite with pine beams and unobstructed hillside views, and the Stuva Veglia with its beautiful wood walls and floor—the accommodation is elegant and superbly appointed. The Meisser is truly a favorite for all its wealth of attributes and the wonderful family for which it is named. Settle in here for several days to appreciate one of Switzerland’s most beautiful valleys and hotels.
