Karen's Review Of This Property:
Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland, has at its heart a medieval section enhanced by hidden squares, fabulous churches, colorful fountains, remains of ancient walls, and an enticing network of cobbled streets. The Romantik Hotel Stern is perfectly situated in the center of the charming old part of the city. Pink, with white-shuttered windows, the building sits right on the street, with a pretty garden terrace to the side. From the moment you step into the foyer, an appealing, old world, ambiance prevails with fine country antiques and gleaming wood paneling adding to the cozy ambiance. It is obvious that great care has been taken to maintain the rich heritage of the building. The meticulously-kept guestrooms (most of which have been recently refurbished) have light knotty-pine furniture typical of the Grisons region, fluffy down duvets, fine linens, and modern bathrooms. The building is 300 years old and has many nooks and crannies reached through a maze of hallways. The food here is excellent and there are many cute dining rooms with age-mellowed pine paneling and rustic-style chairs. Because Chur is on the main rail line, it makes a convenient hub for exploring Switzerland. In recent years, Adrian Müller has taken over the hotel and his extraordinary warmth of welcome and eye for perfection has made this always popular hotel exceptionally outstanding.
