Karen's Review Of This Property:
Geneva is known for its wonderful lakeside hotels, but an appealing hotel exists in that quaint old section of the city—the Hotel les Armures, converted from a private residence dating from the 17th century. The mood and ambiance is intimate. There are no signs of tour groups, only guests sitting in a small lounge, talking quietly or reading—using the hotel as they would their homes. All the guestrooms have handsome wood doors and are decorated with traditional pieces and antiques. The standard room I occupied on my visit had a queen-sized bed, a small round table, antique-style high-backed armchairs, bedside tables with lamps, a small refrigerator, and a very nice bathroom with a hairdryer. The room was quite small but cozy, with a beamed ceiling and wood-framed windows looking over a quiet, shaded square and old fountain. Junior suites offer more spacious accommodation than the standard rooms. Personal favorites in the category of standard room are 201 with its beautiful 17th-century hand-painted beams and courtyard overlook and 401 with its lovely antique furnishings. Set against the exposed stone walls, rooms 407 and 409 are especially charming junior suites. When making a reservation, request detailed directions as the hotel is a bit difficult to find. Also request a room overlooking the square. The hotel has a restaurant, staggered over two levels.
