Karen's Review Of This Property:
Located just beyond the walls of the medieval town of Murten, directly on the banks of Lake Murten, the Hotel Schiff, which opened its doors as a hotel in 1767, enjoys a lovely waterside setting. The hotel is in the capable hands of Stephan Helfer who oversees it with a gracious warmth and astute professionalism. With a multitude of dining rooms, a bar, and evening music, the Hotel Schiff has facilities that cater to groups ranging in size from 2 to 300 people. Often in the summer season you find a group visiting for lunch and a business function taking place, yet even when the place is bustling, the hotel also caters to the individual traveler. The 15 bedrooms are mostly traditional in their decor and many have tall windows that open up to glimpses of the lake through the trees. Rooms 4 and 5 have balconies. Guests can choose between a brasserie, French restaurant, or terrace for evening dining. A few minutes’ walk finds you within the medieval walls of Murten. The ferry docks just in front of the hotel, tempting guests to take it to the interesting towns of Neuchâtel and Biel.
