Karen's Review Of This Property:
The setting of the Hotel Krone is idyllic. Just across the street from the hotel, the River Rhine flows by and narrows on its course from Lake Constance. The Krone has an outdoor terrace on the banks of the river, with a cluster of small tables where meals are served in warm weather. When I first stayed at the Hotel Krone, I fell in love with this beautiful small inn, so well managed by the gracious Schraner-Michaeli family, who personally pamper each guest. The guestrooms have all been totally redone, each individual in decor and each lovely. My favorites were those decorated in a French style with beautiful rose-patterned fabrics. There are only two rooms that actually overlook the water, rooms 220 and 222. The intimate dining room remains, as always, an elegant, paneled room with tables exquisitely set with crisp linens and fresh flowers. Best yet, the food is exceptional. The Hotel Krone makes an excellent base for exploring the northern region of Switzerland and just steps from the door you can board the ferry that will take you along the Rhine. On a day’s boat excursion you can visit the delightful village of Stein am Rhein with its wonderfully painted buildings or the medieval town of Schaffhausen.
