Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Alte Post, an old coaching inn, is a charming country hotel on the road between the international resort of Gstaad and the magnificent lake district of Interlaken. Its terraced back faces the rushing waters of the River Simme. You enter the hotel from the street into a small, informal entry. On one side is a simple country restaurant decorated with pine tables and lovely painted beams and on the other side is a more formal restaurant, elegant in decor. At the back of the inn is a very informal dining area whose tables are set against windows with views of the river. When the weather cooperates, tables are also set outside on a terrace. Nine of the hotel’s ten guestrooms are located on the top floor (the other is on the floor below). All are very rustic in their decor, with wood-paneled walls and ceilings and country antiques—very reminiscent of a country “ferme auberge”. The sound of the road traffic is diminished by the time it reaches the top floor and any sound that could be heard is drowned out by the rushing river. Six of the bedrooms have a private bathroom with shower, two have a private bathroom with tub, and two are equipped with a sink only. The rooms are comfortably furnished and very reasonable in price. First-class cuisine is prepared by the owner and chef, Herr Brazerol.
