Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Lindenhof has an absolutely gorgeous setting above Brienz on an expanse of grounds and beautiful gardens. Housed in five separate buildings, guestrooms vary dramatically—from standard to “adventure” rooms. Adventure rooms are a bit more eccentric in decor, the Heustock and Touristorama being two fun examples. The Heustock (Haystack) room has pine beds covered with red-check comforters and enjoys a view across a private terrace to the surrounding greenery. A loft is filled with hay for a sense of adventure. Referred to by the staff as the “James Bond Room” the Touristorama (#33) has a mattress set in a round frame that turns with the flick of a switch. Its bath is also very dramatic, closed off by plate glass and visible from the bedroom, while the shower is set in a rock and cascading waterfall. Family units housed in a nondescript building—less desirable in terms of setting and decor but very practical—are the only four without a view. Standard rooms are a bit smaller with no terrace. The reception is in the main building, and the stubli/bar makes a cozy spot to settle in front of the fire. The more formal restaurant has windows looking out to the terrace where tables are set in warmer weather. Your sense of adventure in dining can be indulged in the Adventure Restaurant, a cave-like room set under a ceiling of stars and moons.
