Karen's Review Of This Property:
For the Swiss living in the Bernese Alps, a popular family outing is to the Blausee, a tiny, deep blue, crystal-clear lake set in a 20-hectare nature park. After boating on the lake or walking through the densely-wooded forest, many stop to dine on the shores of the lake at the Blausee Restaurant, located in the hotel of the same name. On sunny days, the favorite place to have lunch or supper is on the spacious outdoor terrace. As might be expected, fresh trout is usually featured on the menu. There is also an indoor restaurant for chilly days housed in an attractive, two-story, building that looks a bit like an old-fashioned, English home. Coming to the Blausee has been fashionable since the 19th century and the restaurant has been serving guests for over 125 years. However, it wasn’t until recently that guest rooms were added in a newly built section that unobtrusively stretches out behind the restaurant. It is really fun to stay on after the hoards of day trippers leave and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the lake. I expected the guestrooms to be quite simple, but they are amazingly nice. Those on the lower floor are modern in décor. My favorites are those tucked under the eves. These rooms are individually decorated with antique furniture and are very attractive. My favorite, #11, has windows overlooking the lake and a handsome antique headboard.
