Karen's Review Of This Property:
Tucked at the top of a narrow, steep, graveled road in the beautiful hills of the Basque countryside and surrounded by nature, this is a simple inn that reminded me of something we might recommend in the Swiss Alps. The decor is simple, fresh, and pretty, and so as not to compete with the surrounding natural beauty, light pine is used for the furnishings and the beds are topped by crisp, white duvets. With no other buildings in sight, the cozy guestrooms open up to bucolic views and a few even enjoy their own small balcony. Although bedrooms are small, guests can relax in a sitting room with tables and chairs and a cozy niche in front of a wonderful corner fireplace off the first-floor entry. The hotel’s restaurant has two dining rooms, one an enclosed terrace whose tables enjoy wonderful views, the other a cozy interior room with tables set up against stone walls. Even though the inn, located just outside Jauntsarats, is in a quiet spot (though actually just five minutes from the autoroute and 35 kilometers from Pamplona), I suggest you make a reservation in advance since you might find that the person at the reception desk speaks only Basque. If time allows, pay a visit to nearby Beruete, a charming village of geranium-bedecked houses clustering around a village church against a gorgeous mountain backdrop.
