Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Arosa, situated in a large building in the heart of Madrid, provides excellent accommodation at a price that is very good value for money. The only part of the hotel at street level is the small lobby (serviced by a doorman)—the actual hotel is on the upper levels, with two elevators taking you up to the different floors. The quaint elevator on the right—a tiny, five-sided affair—is unique, obviously constructed to fit the precise space available. Found on the third floor (Spanish second) is the reception, which opens up to a most attractive sitting area and snack bar/breakfast room, an oasis of cool and quiet in the heart of this noisy, bustling city. Individually decorated bedrooms are found off broad corridors, with the majority having a most attractive modern minimalist decor and sparkling modern glass-and-marble bathrooms. While all the rooms we saw were spacious for a city hotel, we were particularly impressed by room 708, which, in addition to being a larger room, has French doors opening onto a balcony with a table and chairs perfectly located for watching the action on the street below. Although there are some dodgy-looking side streets a few blocks away, the location is very good: a few minutes by foot to the chic Puerta del Sol (a shopper’s paradise) and the Plaza Mayor with its charming cafés. The Best Western Arosa remains one of Madrid’s best buys.
