Set high atop a hill dominating the Segre Valley on a fortified site dating back to the Bronze Age with spectacular views of the surrounding Pyrenees, the Castell was abandoned for years before being purchased by the Tapies family; who have restored and transformed it into not just a luxury hotel, but a complete destination. The rooms are all individually decorated and furnished in comfortable, country style. All the main floor rooms have balconies. Views from the dining room and terrace (a perfect place for afternoon tea or aperitifs) are spectacular. Enjoy exquisite, innovative food in the gastronomic restaurant Tapies or be traditional fare in the charming, more casual, restaurant Katia with spectacular views over the mountains. Explore the cavernous wine cellar with the sommelier to make your selection for dinner from over 700 wines. Relax in the large, dark wood-paneled library with its comfortable sofas, books and artwork. The accent is on relaxation and recreation: golf, ballooning, walking, cycling, and archery. For those less actively disposed, there are an outdoor pool and Jacuzzis for dipping between sunbathing and favorite books.
