Karen's Review Of This Property:

Situated in the heart of the Quadrat d’Or, an area famed for Catalonia’s exuberant brand of Art Nouveau, and a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants of La Rambla, the Hotel Condes consists of two buildings on a corner facing Gaudi’s La Pedrera. Formerly two palaces built in the late 1800s, they have been renovated and enlarged to provide a first class base from which to explore the city. Overall, our favorite is the “Monument” building, slightly older of the two, which has been sensitively renovated to include the original spiral staircase (take a rest on the “banquita” or use the elevator) and the splendid, old, wooden front door, complete with the original brass knocker from its days as an apartment building. The solarium, gym, and small splash pool on the roof provide a pleasant oasis away from the bustling streets below. All rooms have balconies except those on the first floor. The newer “Centre” building was constructed within the original façade and, while it lacks the rooftop facilities offered in Monument, it probably offers the nicest accommodation. The deluxe terrace rooms on the seventh floor with large, private, outdoor terraces provide magnificent views across the city. As might be expected of a modern hotel, all the guestrooms are stylishly appointed with every convenience, luxurious linens, bathrobes, and superb bathrooms.
