Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Rector, located at the edge of the ancient walls of Salamanca, is one of Spain’s finest small hotels with a special enhancement—gracious owners who oversee every detail. The handsome, three-story, beige-stone building (with beautiful, sculpted designs over the windows and doors, and black wrought-iron balconies) blends in perfectly with the typical old houses of the adjacent old town. It is steps away from the Roman bridge and just a seven-minute walk through the old town to the spectacular Plaza Mayor. The decor throughout is tasteful and traditional. The colors are mostly pastel, with accents of deep rose. A whimsical touch, just as you enter, is provided by two large arched windows with a colorful “Tiffany” glass effect. The reception area opens to a comfortable sitting area and leads to the hotel’s parking garage. Nothing is on a grand scale—instead, there is a refined, understated elegance. The guestrooms are lovely, with the finest-quality, traditional-style furnishings and color-coordinating fabrics on the bedspreads and draperies. They all have large marble bathrooms. Breakfast is the only meal served and staff are happy to make recommendations on reasonably priced places to eat.
