Words cannot prepare you for the magical setting of the Hotel Hacienda Na Xamena. As you approach, the road gradually climbs through a gentle forest of pines to a sparkling white building. When you check in, the Hacienda seems lovely, but not so different from other luxury hotels: it is only when you open the door into your bedroom that the absolute splendor of the Hacienda unfolds. The hotel is built into the hillside and what appears at first to be a one-story structure actually cascades down the hill with six floors of guestrooms—each with a view to die for. Views just don’t get any better. Spread before you are giant cliffs of granite that plunge into the sea, forming idyllic, small coves where the blue sea dances in the sunlight. All of the bedrooms have either a terrace or a balcony. The superior rooms and suites have large Jacuzzi tubs in front of picture windows. If your heart is not set on relaxing in your bath while soaking in the view, the standard rooms offer the same amenities, but the Jacuzzi is in the bathroom. The public areas combine the feel of Ibiza with a touch of Andalusia, reflected in two inner courtyards, one with palm trees, the other with a covered pool. There is a tennis court and two more swimming pools, one is equipped for hydrotherapy, the other is romantically perched on the cliff overlooking the sea.
