Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel de la Reconquista is a real classic. From the first glance, you will know this is not an ordinary hotel. The exterior is stunning—a superb 18th-century masterpiece, justifiably designated a national monument. The front of the two-story building is made of pretty ochre-colored stone. Wrought iron balconies adorn the formal line of windows and a magnificent crest is mounted above the entrance. Inside the splendor continues: the entrance hall opens to an enormous, arcaded courtyard (with a patterned red carpet and blue velvet chairs and sofas) roofed in glass, creating a lounge that is protected from the sun and rain. This is where guests gather for a cup of tea or an aperitif before dinner, surrounded by an old-fashioned, understated elegance of a bygone era. Beyond the first courtyard, there is a second garden courtyard; and beyond that, even a third. Throughout, the decor reflects a formal grandeur with gorgeous large mirrors, beautiful antique chests, fine oil paintings, grandfather clocks, fresh flowers, and green plants. The walls and hallways to the guestrooms are covered in a rich, red fabric. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional style, many with antique accents.
