Karen's Review Of This Property:
La Posada del Torcal is a beautiful, traditional Andalusian cortijo (farmhouse) with 11 acres of almond groves occupying a hilltop setting beneath the crags of El Torcal National Park. This countryside retreat is an ideal touring base for exploring Andalusia. However, you may be as charmed by this idyllic spot as we were and, rather than rushing off sightseeing, content yourself with lounging by the heated pool, enjoying languorous lunches on the vine-covered patio, soaking in the stunning view of a broad, farm-dotted valley and the distant Mediterranean, enjoying a massage, bike riding on quiet lanes, horseback riding, or playing tennis. Inside, the hotel is as attractive as out, with plump sofas and chairs in the lofty beamed living room and 300-year-old beams in the dining room. The spacious king-bedded guestrooms are stylishly decorated with antiques and handmade ceramics and have under-floor heating, fireplaces, ceiling fans, and satellite TVs. The superior rooms have balconies or terraces. Because of the Torcal’s location, it catches the breeze, so air conditioning is unnecessary. This is such an idyllic spot that you should plan to spend several nights here—use it as your base for forays to the coast and inland to Ronda, Córdoba and Granada (Michael can obtain Alhambra tickets for you).
