Quinta da Capela Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Quinta da Capela is sheer enchantment—a superb opportunity to slip back many centuries in time. This fabulous quinta dates back to the 16th century, but was rebuilt in 1773 and became the farm of a wealthy nobleman. The home is magnificent, with thick white walls, vaulted ceilings, fine furniture, many superb oil paintings, and hand-loomed carpets accenting red-tiled floors. Fabulous antiques are used throughout, though nothing is stiff or contrived—there is a homelike ambiance and genuine warmth of welcome. The comfortable lounge, where guests gather in the evening after fixing themselves a drink at the honor bar, is especially inviting. Beyond the lounge is a lovely breakfast room, bright and cheerful with pink-and-black harlequin marble floors. The sun streams through windows on two sides. The bedrooms continue the mood of being in a private home and each is individual in decor and beautifully furnished in antiques. Seven of the bedrooms are in the main house, while the others are suites in separate cottages. Surrounding the house are magnificent gardens with clipped hedges and even swans floating gracefully on the pond. If you fall in love with the Quinta da Capela, you will be fascinated to know that your charming hosts have opened another bed and breakfast in Brazil.

.....We spent 2 nights at Quinta da Capela near Sintra. I would highly recommend this inn. We LOVED it and its location, only problem for us is we arrived late (after dark) and we got terribly lost for several hours. (The host had to talk us to the Quinta) Once we finally arrived it was perfect!
