Casa do Sol Nascente Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Casa do Sol Nascente gives new meaning to the word “rural”—it is truly off the beaten path, but this is exactly what attracted the Arbuckles here. After traveling throughout the world, Ian wanted utter tranquility and wife Chizu (whom he met while living in Japan) seems also to love the rural life. Intending part of the house to be an apartment for Ian’s family, they built it larger than they needed but his father died unexpectedly so, with more bedrooms than they could use, Ian and Chizu decided to open their home as a bed and breakfast. It is a perfect outlet for their talents. Both are extremely gracious hosts who have the knack of making guests feel right at home, quickly leaving behind the tensions of daily life. The home is built in the traditional style of white stucco and red-tiled roof, but because the house is new, there are windows everywhere, filling the rooms with sunlight. Chizu is an excellent housekeeper as well as an artist whose paintings decorate the walls. For those on a budget, two small but attractive bedrooms on the first floor share a bathroom. Upstairs are two very spacious, nicely decorated bedrooms, each with its own large private bathroom.

Directions: Taipa is not on any map we could find, but don’t worry about it. It is off the N230 about midway between Aveiro and Águeda. In Eirol there is a sign for Taipa and Requeixo—turn south here for 1.4 km and then follow signs to Casa do Sol Nascente.
