Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Lodge at Uxmal is blessed with an unsurpassable location, just across from the archaeological site. However, location is not all this hotel has to offer; it’s a real charmer in every way. Your introduction begins when the receptionist, dressed in colorful Mayan costume, welcomes you in an open-air, thatched-roof palapa. The Mayan theme continues in the cluster of five two-story, brightly colored, thatched-roof buildings that house the guestrooms. All of the accommodations are appointed with materials of the finest quality throughout. The woodwork is especially remarkable—highly polished hardwood floors, beautiful cabinetry, and handsome louvered plantation shutters. My favorite rooms are the corner units and my favorite buildings are those overlooking the lakelike swimming pool (there is a second pool located near the restaurant). Because of its strategic location so close to the ruins, the Lodge is naturally a target for busloads of tourists who come to eat lunch in its open-air restaurant. This is really no problem, since if you have a room overlooking the pool, you are ensured tranquility. In addition to being such a lovely small hotel, the Lodge has another super advantage: you can visit Uxmal first thing in the morning before the buses arrive then return to the hotel in the heat of the day to relax by the comfort of the pool.
