The Mesones Sacristía Puebla are two historic houses that are managed as one hotel by your hosts, the Espinosa family, who have been antique dealers for four generations. With a talent for decorating, accentuated by a fine collection of antiques and religious artwork, they have created two charming, boutique-style hotels. Both are tiny, but the intimate size allows for personal attention. Both are located in Puebla’s centro histórico and are within walking distance of each other. The closest to the town’s fascinating main square, is the hotel on 6 Sur, which is built around a colonial-style courtyard where tables are gaily set with colorful linens for dining. This restaurant is well known for its fine Pueblan cuisine and the adjacent bar is also a favorite with locals. The hotel on 9 Oriente, an aristocratic home dating back the 16th century, is a bit farther from the main square, but it is quieter since there is no restaurant or bar with live music until the wee hours. The guestrooms in both properties are individually decorated, and each has its own distinct personality. A combination of antique and modern furnishings lends an eclectic, comfortable ambiance. When making reservations, ask more information about each hotel’s location and special merits; then decide whether you want the property on 6 Sur or the one on 9 Oriente.
