Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Villa del Sol, which began in the late 1970s as the dream of a German engineer, Helmut Leins, evolved over the years to become one of Mexico’s finest boutique hotels. The property remained under Helmut’s loving care until 2007 when it was acquired by the Kor Hotel Group, a luxury hotel operator. In the beginning the hotel consisted of just a small cluster of casitas on Zihuatanejo’s splendid beach, Playa la Ropa, but it slowly grew. In addition to more rooms and an adjacent condominium complex, all the amenities of a deluxe hotel were added, including four swimming pools, tennis courts, a spa, and a fitness center. There are now 70 rooms and suites, all splendid in décor and with Mexican-style furnishings. Although all the guestrooms are special, the beachside ones, some with terrace and private pool overlooking an expansive view of the bay, are choice. But for that special occasion, the upgrade is well worth it. Playa la Ropa, right outside your door, is perfect for long evening walks or morning jogs. Villa del Sol also offers gourmet cuisine, lunch on the beach with linen tablecloths and the sand at your feet, to casual and fine dining in the evenings at sunset. Zihuatanejo, with its beachside cafés, restaurants, and market, is just a few minutes’ ride away by taxi and is well worth a visit. No hotel in Zihuatanejo can surpass the Villa del Sol’s prime location, right on the best section of the unrivaled Playa de Ropa beach.
