The La villa, which previously was called called Villa Luz, was originally a private home, but has been converted into a charming small hotel that snuggles on the hillside above Zihuatanejo’s wonderful beach, Playa La Ropa. Just a two-minute walk takes you through the garden, out the back gate, and down the hill to the beach. From the entrance three levels of guestrooms are staggered down the hill to a lush garden and a pretty swimming pool. Each guestroom, although small, is decorated with elegant simplicity using Mexican-style furnishings and hand-loomed fabrics. Everything has been supplied for your comfort including fine linens, quality mattresses, bathrobes, slippers, and hairdryers. Each guestroom overlooks Zihuatanejo Bay and has a thatch-covered balcony or terrace with two chairs and a table—a romantic place for a drink at sunset. There is also a small, hidden-away garden with table and chairs that makes a perfect spot for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served on a mid-level terrace offering a grand view of Zihuatanejo Bay. Soft drinks are stocked in the open kitchen and are available throughout the day. Normally this romantic hotel is only for adults, but the entire hotel can be rented for a family vacation. The hotel is not for the handicapped as there are many levels and lots of stairs.
