Karen's Review Of This Property:
Amuleto is truly a gem: a tiny romantic hotel tucked high on a densely wooded hillside at the south end of Zihuatanejo overlooking La Playa Ropa beach. Only a few thatched roofs peek out of the trees to announce its location. Although a delightfully rustic ambiance prevails with the use of local hardwoods, terracotta floors, Talavera tiles, wood beams, thatched roofs, Mexican furnishings, handcrafted fabrics, and lacey crocheted hammocks, the hotel exudes luxury and elegance. There are six beautifully decorated suites, four with their own plunge pools. The two larger suites have very private outdoor showers and one has a roof top deck where you can watch the cruise ships come into the bay and anchor. All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, but the high palapa thatched roofs and the sea breezes cool the rooms in all but the hottest weather. Sitting just below the bar and restaurant, an infinity swimming pool, which has a breathtaking view, seems to blend seamlessly into the distance blue water of the ocean. If you are feeling energetic, a 25-minute walk downhill takes you to La Ropa beach, but you will probably want to hale a taxi for the 5-minute ride back home. Amuleto has an excellent restaurant where each year a guest-chef displays his talents. The owner, Ricardo Teitelroit, and his wife are both natives of Brazil and can often be found in the hotel.
