Karen's Review Of This Property:
For all of you who have been to Venice and fallen in love with both the Hotel Flora and its incredibly kind owners, the Romanelli family, we are delighted to let you know that they purchased a second building just a few minutes’ walk from the Flora and have renovated it into another intimate accommodation, called Novecento. The hotel occupies two very old residences—one side of the building is rosy peach, the other soft ochre. Green shutters enhancing stone windows and a wrought-iron fixture overhanging the street add to the appeal of the ancient building. The interiors differ greatly from the Flora in that they incorporate the once-popular decorating style of Fortuny, who included motifs from exotic places such as the Orient, Africa, Egypt, and Morocco in his designs, therefore deep earth tones of browns, deep reds, mustards, and grays reign. Each of the nine rooms has its own personality appointed with antiques beds and a refined ethnic fabrics and art pieces. Although it doesn’t have a central courtyard like the Flora, the Novecento has a nice garden in the back where guests can relax. The same Romanelli father-son team, who so expertly and with such heart manage the Hotel Flora, personally oversee Novecento. Son, Gioele, organizes art exhibits and welcomes artists. The Hotel Flora has been in our guide since its first edition and it remains one of our very favorites and that of many travelers.
