Karen's Review Of This Property:
Torcello is a tiny, sleepy island about 50 minutes from Venice by boat. For those who want to be close to Venice yet feel worlds away, the Locanda Cipriani Torcello is a superb, romantic hideaway owned by the Cipriani family. Your charming host, Bonifacio Brass, still remembers his famous grandfather who founded the Locanda and one of the world’s most renowned pubs, Harry’s Bar in Venice. The magical Locanda Cipriani Torcello is above all popular among knowledgeable gourmets as a fantastic restaurant. Many arrive every day from Venice just to dine, and then depart, never knowing that this restaurant also has exceptionally charming guestrooms. A simple farmhouse from the exterior, it has been renovated with great charm and exudes a understated elegance with beautiful country antiques and fresh flowers. You enter into a rustic, cozy dining room, but when the weather is warm, most guests prefer to dine outside on the beautiful terrace overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens that in summer offer a fantasy of color as well as the striking church and bell tower of Torcello. There are only five bedrooms—all are delightful and decorated in a simple, charming decor. Many famous guests have already discovered this oasis, including Ernest Hemingway, a friend of Cipriani’s, who came here for inspiration to write two novels. I think you will share his belief that the Locanda Cipriani Torcello is a very special place.
