Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Violino d’Oro faces a small canal on one side and the Barozzi and San Moisé squares on the other. This hotel offers an excellent choice of accommodation for those looking for a small-hotel atmosphere with friendly service in a great location near San Marco. Two sisters, Federica and Cristina, using their family hotel experience, bought the once private home that had most recently been used as an office building, totally renovated it, decorated the rooms in the style of the 18th century, and opened in 2000. The 26 rooms on the upper three floors are accessed by an elevator or the main open staircase, which gives the place the sense of space and light, not very common in the city. Each bedroom accessed from each floor’s large foyer with sitting area is very similar, with brocade fabric on the wall behind the bed and color-coordinated draperies and bedspreads either in royal blue or red. Murano glass chandeliers continue the mood of Venice’s romantic heritage. There is a typical hotel setup in each room with desk and chair, luggage stand, satellite TV, mini-bar, and some with small balconies. The travertine marble bathrooms mostly have showers, although some bathtubs are available. The breakfast room is very appealing with walls painted sunny yellow. Another plus is a rooftop terrace where guests may relax and enjoy a partial view of the Grand Canal. Friendly and casual, the hotel is superbly located at a reasonable rate.
