Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Flora is reached down a tiny lane, just off one of the main walkways lined with elegant boutiques to St. Mark’s Square: a secluded hideaway, protected from the bustle of the city yet conveniently close to all the action. At the end of the tiny alley the doors open into a small lobby, beyond which is an enchanting small garden, an oasis of serenity with white wrought-iron tables and chairs surrounding a gently tinkling fountain. Potted plants, small trees, and lacy vines complete the idyllic scene. The hotel encloses the garden on three sides. Doors open from the garden to a little bar and the double breakfast room/salon where an Internet point has been set up. The public areas are Victorian in mood with dark furniture and red velvet fabrics. The individually appointed bedrooms vary greatly in their size and decor, some being quite small, but all have carefully chosen antique furnishings and Victorian-style wallpaper covers many of the walls lending a definite old-world ambiance. Gracious owner Signor Romanelli, personally sees that his guests are well taken care of, as well as longtime reception manager and native Venetian, Giovanni. The Hotel Flora is a true favorite of many travelers to Venice. Although it is a relatively simple hotel, the it is a rare find for those who want a relatively inexpensive place to stay in the heart of Venice that combines a superb location, genuine warmth of welcome and service, and innate charm.
