Karen's Review Of This Property:
We instantly fell in love with Il Borro and decided that this gorgeous property would be perfect for those who want to nestle into Tuscany for a week or more in a “home away from home.” Il Borro is owned by Ferruccio Ferragamo and managed by Leonardo Utari. This isn’t your normal hotel at all—it is a huge estate with vineyards, walnut groves, olive trees, woodlands, and pastures. For such a vast property (1755 acres), it is amazing that there are only twenty-four suites, accommodating from two to six persons. Each has a bedroom (or bedrooms), kitchen, and living room. A wide variety of accommodations is offered: fourteen of the suites are in three houses nestled in the countryside, twelve are in individual cottages in the hamlet of Borro, and the last, a romantic, secluded little mill, stands by the river. My favorites are the twelve cottages in Borro, an adorable village with a cluster of enchanting stone buildings facing onto narrow, cobbled, pedestrian-only streets. This hamlet, reached by a beguiling stone bridge, is a real town with its own tiny plaza, artisan shops, boutiques, church, cobbler, goldsmith, restaurant, delicatessen and wine bar. Here, the twelve guest cottages are tucked among the villagers’ homes. No matter where you stay, the decor and accommodations are outstanding, and in the off season prices drop dramatically.
