The general trend in hotel accommodation today is to offer guests services of a wellness center whether it is simply massage or a full-fledged spa. The Grotta Giusti satisfies the latter having the advantage of thermal waters which fill one of two large swimming pools. The hotel is located next to Montecatini Terme, in what was once the private 19th-century retreat of the poet, Giuseppe Giusti, and where Giuseppe Verdi was frequently a guest. Classic-styled, very comfortable bedrooms are dispersed among the original stone home and the more recently-built wing with spacious reception, series of sitting rooms, elegant frescoed salon, cigar room and full bar. Rooms of various sizes have white marble bathrooms and deluxe and superior rooms have a direct line to the thermal waters. The spacious veranda dining room looking out to the surrounding gardens offers a regular menu featuring Tuscan specialties or tailor-made meals for those following one of the many programs. Treatments of all types are available on the long list of anti-stress therapies ranging from classic to oriental techniques. What sets this place apart from the rest is not only the historic residence with natural thermal waters but the extraordinary grotta situated below the hotel, where guests sit in total silence and benefit from the natural detoxing steam emanating from the earth.
