Karen's Review Of This Property:
The stunning Palazzo Magnani Feroni, an ancient private residence of the Giannotti family, dating back to the 1500s, is on the “left bank” of the River Arno four blocks away from the Ponte Vecchio. The sensation of being in a true palace is captured immediately upon entering the grand foyer with vaulted ceilings, marble busts, statues, and precious period paintings, many from the owners’ world travels. This is a unique all-suite upscale accommodation in that they have purposefully avoided adding any obvious signs of its being a hotel (a small reception room sits off the main entrance) in order to retain the aura of living in an elegant historical residence. Sumptuous bedrooms with soaring ceilings, mostly enormous suites, have retained their original architectural features and have been appointed with antique and reproduction pieces, gilded framed mirrors, Oriental carpets, brocaded gold fabrics on sofas, and tapestries. Suites on the ground floor look out onto an inner courtyard and one has two walls entirely covered with a fresco depicting a bucolic countryside scene. Breakfast is served in the suites or in the long upstairs dining room with its showcase displaying antique silk fabrics left over from the days when the palazzo was also an antique gallery. Another highlight includes a rooftop terrace with superb views over the city, where in summer the Palace Bar opens every evening. The hotel also offers complimentary in-suite dinner for late arrivals.
