Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Lungarno, one of our favorite hotels, is superbly located directly on the River Arno, a few minutes’ walk from the Ponte Vecchio. Of more recent construction, the architect has cleverly incorporated into the hotel an ancient stone tower, which houses several romantic suites. The decor is superb, with fine-quality furnishings and gorgeous fabrics accented by an appealing color scheme of blues and creamy whites. The hotel has been totally refurbished with all the latest modern conveniences in smartly styled rooms that have a great appeal. In addition to classic guestrooms are six splendid two-bedroom, two-bath apartments, which are an exceptional value if you are traveling with friends or family. Throughout the hotel a gracious ambiance of understated elegance prevails, enhanced by the admirable management and warm reception. Bountiful bouquets of fresh flowers and an outstanding collection of original 20th century paintings (over 450 works) add the final touch of perfection. If you plan far in advance, you might even be lucky enough to snare a room with a large terrace overlooking the river—these are very special and well worth the extra cost. What a treat to sit on your own terrace in the evening and watch the Arno fade into gold in the setting sun. The alternative is a drink at the Lungarno’s sophisticated bar or chic Borgo San Jacopo restaurant, with incomparable river views accompanied by precious Picasso, Cocteau and Rosai paintings. Top-class.
