Karen's Review Of This Property:

Moderately priced accommodations are rare in Florence, so we were happy to discover the Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco, which combines reasonable rates with a choice location in the heart of Florence. Most importantly, this small hotel has an owner, Alessandro Bargiacchi, whose presence is seen and felt. He speaks only a little English, but his smile and genuine warmth of welcome make guests feel right at home. Everyone who assists him is exceptionally friendly and all converse in several languages, including the gracious manager, Antonella Rocchini. Federico is also very charming. The inviting lobby sets the tone of the hotel with a bright reception area with exposed brick walls and contrasting abstract paintings and modern light fixtures. There is a lounge bar where guests can relax and enjoy a drink and a reading room with Internet access. Breakfast is served in a pretty room with a delightful courtyard that is very popular with guests in pleasant weather. The bedrooms vary in size and shape, as one would expect in an historical 16th-century building. All are decorated with individual antiques and some even have celestial frescos on the ceilings. On a busy street, the more quiet rooms look over a back garden. The Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco is not a deluxe hotel, nor does it pretend to be, but it makes an excellent choice for a friendly, pleasant place to stay in the heart of Florence.
