Corvara is a lovely Alpine village sitting high in the Dolomites and ringed by towering peaks. Fortunately, it’s one of those places that combines an exquisite setting with a superb upscale hotel run by the most welcoming of families, the Costas. From the exterior the hotel looks like another typical Alpine hotel but once inside you realize that this is very different—all seven intimate paneled dining rooms and enoteca have been rebuilt from antique local homes. The conservatory breakfast room offers the largest breakfast selection I have ever seen, from fresh-squeezed juices to eggs cooked any way you want them. The indoor swimming pool with its whirlpool features is a swimming adventure, though if you prefer swimming outdoors, there is also a large garden pool. Bedrooms are absolutely delightful, ranging from romantic rooms with balconies offering stunning mountain views to two exquisite junior suites decked out in white pine accented by blue-and-white fabric. In winter this is a paradise for skiers and in summer for hikers and an ideal base for exploring the magnificent Dolomites. The hotel also offers guests a wine therapy spa with treatments using natural grape products.
