Raised in the United States, Lusya came “home” to Sicily to restore her grandfather’s 17th-century villa and farmhouse complex and open it to guests. The large peach-colored villa, surrounded by citrus groves, originally housed both the family residence and cantinas where the grapes were made into wine. The cantinas serve as a dining area with stone arches that divide the room and a wine cellar that offers many Sicilian labels. The nineteen bedrooms are found in the main villa and a one-story wing around the swimming pool. Comfortably appointed in various color schemes, all the rooms have large wooden or wrought iron beds, striped bedspreads, and wooden furnishings. Lusya is an enthusiastic and energetic hostess and suggests many different day trips in this fascinating area of southern Sicily. Guests can also take advantage of nearby activities such as scooter or bike rentals, horseback riding, scuba diving, guided tours, Jeep excursions, and sailing. Excursions to the most important tourist and cultural sites are available. The hotel is very close to beautiful sandy beaches, in the countryside where peace and quiet are guaranteed even in the center of high season. Shuttle service is arranged for the beaches, Siracusa or the Catania airport.
