Karen's Review Of This Property:
Sardinia’s lovely beaches and inlets of turquoise water are outstanding, but not to venture inland from the coast means missing wonderful scenery and rich archaeological sites. The perfect solution is to combine the two—after a holiday by the sea, plan to stay for several days at the Hotel Su Gologone. Here you can experience all the best the countryside has to offer: delightful rural landscape, rustic country charm, excellent meals featuring Sardinian specialties, and even sightseeing excursions. The Hotel Su Gologone is set in a high valley among gently rolling hills dotted by grazing sheep. Adding drama to the tranquil scene is a backdrop of granite mountains whose jagged peaks reach to the sky. The exterior of the hotel exudes a country charm with stark white walls accenting Mediterranean-blue shutters and doors, red-tiled roof, and flowers, flowers, flowers. Inside, the ambiance of a country hotel is set from the moment you enter the lobby. All of the furnishings have a rustic flair with the extensive use of local handicrafts including hand-woven rugs, pretty fabrics, and simple wooden furniture. Although there are 65 guestrooms, the hotel seems much smaller because many of the rooms are in small cottages scattered about the property. Although the room rate is amazingly low, the Su Gologone offers the amenities of a resort hotel with a pool, tennis, mini-golf, excursions, bikes, horseback riding, and a spa.
